The Result (Mon 4/5/10)

“Some of us will do our jobs well and some will not, but we will all be judged by only one thing: The result.” -Vince Lombardi

CrossFit is about results, period. We are not as concerned with the methods which produce those results, we’re just interested in the results part. We do squats, deadlifts, cleans, snatches and the like because that’s what we’ve found produces the best results. We also do kipping pullups, throw 20# balls to targets 10′ high, carry 50# sandbags while running, do weightlifting with no shoes on and purposely do our workouts while we’re still sore from yesterday’s workout. Results, man – damn good ones.

But those results aren’t free – they take a lot of hard work, sweat, pain (physical and mental), and of course a commitment to be better. Lots of people have the desire to be better but aren’t willing to put in the work to actually become better. Not you though – you’ve seen how much you can improve in such a short amount of time, and you’ve mentally compared those results with your old globo memberships, bodypump classes, pilates studios and hot yoga. It’s almost not even fair to compare them to CrossFit. It’s like comparing how long it would take to empty a swimming pool using a coffee mug to using a large gas-powered pump designed for emptying swimming pools.

Yeah, I’ll stick with the pump, thanks…

    What’s a pike up?

  • Tai

It’s like a sit-up where you bring your (straight) legs up in the air to meet your torso in a “V” position.
