The Kids Are Here (Fri 7/2/10)

That’s right folks, my kids are in town for their first annual summer vacation visit, and will be around for the whole month of July. I’m sure you’ll all get a chance to meet them, as they’ll be at the gym with me quite a bit. And while they’re sure to be playing on the rings or swinging from the ropes, I invite you all to watch them closely. Observe their movements. Watch when they pick something up off the floor, run across the room or squat down low – their mechanics look pretty darn good for someone who was never taught how to do that stuff.

I love watching children run and jump and play, because most of the stuff that I teach everyday in the gym (in terms of mechanics) is stuff that kids do naturally. They squat with their weight on their heels, they run in perfect Pose technique, and they play for the love of playing (not because they know they have to in order to keep from becoming fat). Kids are the perfect CrossFitters, and of course mine are way cuter than yours.
