Move Beautiful (Fri 7/9/10)

The photo today is quite remarkable, actually. It may appear as though there’s nothing special about it, but it is actually a photo of a painting on a sidewalk, and not actually a city in the clouds with a glass floor. Go ahead – click on it and see for yourself. Yep, some dude with some sidewalk chalk decided to make it look like there’s a very large hole that leads to birds and clouds and stuff. Pretty cool, eh?

It’s the same as the concept of virtuosity that so many CrossFitters talk about all the time. Doing the common uncommonly well. Anyone can draw a picture on a sidewalk, but not everyone can make it look like *that*. That’s what you should be striving to do all the time. Don’t just pick up the barbell, do it beautifully. Don’t just swing the kettlebell, do it beautifully. Don’t just do the WOD, do it beautifully. The same reaction you had toward this sidewalk art is what people will have when observing you during their “people watching” session the next time you’re walking through the mall. Move beautifully, and do it everywhere you go – in the gym, at the mall, when you’re out and about – move like you are uncommonly good at it.
